Kitchen Cabinet Refacing & Modification
To Reface or not to Reface:
- Are you tired with the current look of your kitchen?
- Does your kitchen need a face lift but the thought of a major renovation
in the heart of your home scare you?
- Are your cabinet doors falling apart or look like they soon will be?
Well, guess what? We can do a full update usually in less than one week. We
make it possible for you to still be able to use your kitchen to make supper
each and every day while saving thousands of dollars.
What is Refacing:
First, we remove the existing cabinet doors and drawers fronts. If there are
any modifications to the cabinet layout, like adding new cabinets, it is done
now. Then, the cabinets are sanded in place. Sides and faces are glued on the
old surface, matching the color and material of the doors. Lastly, the new
doors and drawer fronts are installed with the new hardware. We use the
finest all metal European hidden hinges and euroglides for the drawers. On
older cabinets, face mounted hinges are usually used.
Why would I want to Reface my kitchen:
- It may be the best renovation project to increase your home's value
- You can typically reface your kitchen for about 50% less cost than
replacing the entire cabinet
- The work can be completed while still allowing the kitchen to be
functional
- The work typically can be completed in less than one week
- The final outcome will appear to be a full replacement
Is my kitchen a good candidate for Refacing:
- Are you happy with the current layout of the kitchen?
- Are the cabinet boxes in good shape?
- Are the drawers in good shape?
If you said yes to all of these questions, your kitchen is a very good candidate.
In some instances, repairs can be made to cabinets or drawer banks replaced
with new models.
Kitchen Modifications:
While refacing your kitchen, it is a good time to think about adding additional
cabinets or re-organizing some of what you have. In many cases, it is possible
to match the existing cabinets and finish to allow for a seamless addition to
what already exists. If you are planning on painting the cabinets, the match is
not really an issue.
Some popular modifications are:
- Adding a full size pantry
- Converting a built-in microwave shelf to a cupboard by adding a stove
top built-in microwave
- Removing lower cabinets and installing pots and pans drawers
- Crown mouldings
- Countertops
- Bring electrical up to today's standards
What you need to do before we start the job
Before starting, you will need to remove all items from your cabinets and
drawers. You will still be able to use the kitchen every night if needed, unlike
total remodeling, where you would be forced out of your kitchen for 4-6 weeks.
I am getting new appliances that won't fit in my current kitchen
Prior to refacing, we can add or subtract to the cabinets to alter the openings
to allow you to get what you really want.
